Both my main projects I am working on this year at their core deal with issues of power.
For my personal project I am looking at how women have been portrayed throughout (art) history. Woman with power were either mystified and sexualized like the sirens from greek mythology or the modern day femme fatale in film noir or they were prosecuted and policed like the witch or the nowadays slut.
At the same time I am working on a newspaper that talks about police violence and their abuse of power.
In feminism we talk a lot about empowerment.
A need for empowerment implies that there is a lack of power or an unequal distribution of power in a patriarchic society.
For this (hectic) week I got inspired by Billy Eilish's new song "Your Power". In her song she talks about someone who abuse their power.
"Try not to abuse your power, I know we didn't chose to change. You might not wanna lose your power, but havin' it's so strange."
Try not to abuse your power is also the title of this weeks image."
