"Regarding the second assignment, safety is something that nowadays is harder and harder to take care of because of the society, pollution, social media, the freedom of traveling and so on. Besides this, for the last year and a half, we are living in the most unsafe times in modern history with a virus that changed the world and the way we live.
Since the pandemic has started, I always took care of myself and I thought that I could always feel safe, wear a mask and wash my hands all the time but there was more than this. We are young people, but the problem was that this could have been spread easily to older people and family which could have change everything. Even when I went home for Christmas, I tried to be as careful as possible because of my Grandfather and parents that could have been in a more serious situation if something was happening.
Moreover, the term of safety for a lot of people could be having a roof over their head, to be able to provide food for the family or even having access to education or health care. From what I already saw and the way our society evolves, the consumerism and the way we use our resources, more and more people will end having this kind of problems and the safety will become one of the first thoughts that we will have.
Me personally I feel that our life is changing year by year and I feel that time is running faster than ever being caught in a routine that takes your mind away from a lot of other things from which safety is one of them. We go to work, school, shopping everyday but the idea of danger is kind of left by the side.
What do you think about being safe nowadays ? Did you ever feel unsafe back home ? Or were there times when you felt that something bad could happen to you ? Did you ever feel threatened about anything ? How would/did you manage this kind of situations ?
Did you feel unsafe with the pandemic situation ? I know that you previously said that Vietnam managed this situation quite good, especially comparing to Europe which was and still is quite bad with a lot of restrictions and lockdowns, but I think the feeling of being unsafe was still present in our mind.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and opinion about this!
Until then, stay safe and take care of yourself!"

Well, I guess, it's a kinda "luxury" thing nowadays, as if we look at the US, what happening over there is overwhelming, and most people are in the dangerous right? but there would be a percentage of people who have enough capital to buy "protection" for themself right? such as vaccines, fresh food, body treatment, clean air, quality goods.  And I would say it would be the same here, in Vietnam, your safety is equal with the capital that you have.
Did I ever feel unsafe back home ? This is could be a bit exaggerated, but to be honest, I would say that in Vietnam, you would want to activate your awareness most of the time if you are outside or even inside, and how I feel like when I'm in Vietnam. I feel unsafe when I drive on the street as I could be hit by a guy/lady who drives past the red light. My belongings could be disappeared in one second if I am not paying attention. I could easily get food poison from the store from the street. But with these things, when you can live at a place long enough, you will know how things work where you live, you can protect yourseft from it. However, after all, the pollution in Saigon is threatening me in particular, and people in general.  As there is a day I can see the pollution "fog" cover the entire building.
I actually want to do a project about this, about the environment of the city, the landscape of the city has been changed extremely compare to 5 years ago. The rise of the high building is just crazy, as I can see construction everywhere I go in the city.
So yeah for this week, I will also use one of the photographs from the series that I have worked on since 3 months ago.
Even though, the government did an amazing job to stop the virus but during that time I feel like people don't trust each other anymore, they seem more aggressive to each other, they would hit you if you are with your camera or shouting at you when they know that you are not from their area. Because, in Vietnam, to control the cases, the government actually trace and collect the information of anymore and when there is a person get positive, they would public the routine of that person on the news. So yes, it's scary when people don't trust each other anymore."
