"In some environments and in some cases, being knowledgeable is a privilege. The more we know, especially when we get to understand the roots of things, the more we are enlightened to know how the world works and apply it to the reality. This might affect how we think, how we act and what impacts we leave on people and events around us.
We do not only obtain knowledge from educational institutions where we were sent to study since the early stage of life (which we just copy what we are asked to do at a very young age). I think the most precious knowledge we get is the knowledge we actively reach out by ourselves, the kinds of knowledge that actually open our mind and lead to our behaviour in the end. Of course my brain is still intellectually satisfied when I get to know interesting things but if it just stops at knowledge basically, it will go nowhere and fall into oblivion.
At the same time, as for me, knowledge must always go along with kindness. Without kindness, people can do morally cruel things to others. It's no need to state the facts here as we have witnessed a lot of sad things happen in human's history.
Francis Bacon stated that "Knowledge is power" but it is also said that "Ignorance is bliss". We are not sure that with the knowledge we have, we can have a happier life. If we do not guard ourselves with a stable mind and strong attitudes, too much knowledge can destroy the fragile us and make our life miserable. Yes, knowledge is not certain to secure a happy life but it will give people a more meaningful life.

"Since a while ago I have wonder about my position in the world. I always saw myself as somebody who is opress, by gender, race, nationality, etc, but lately I am learning to understand my privilages and act in consequence. One of the things I kept thinking about, is from my chidhood:
One of my favorite movies is Roma by Alfonso Cuaron. This movie tells the story of Cleo, an indiginous maid that works for a wealthy family in Mexico city. It presents her to us as a human, with feelings, pains, desires and aspirations. I also had several maids that took care of me when I was a child in Colombia. I am not wealthy at all, but it is fearly common for medum class famiies to employ one as well. The first one, Maira, taught me how to read, how to cound, how to speak (English and Spanish...). She came from a village in the country side, trying to look for a better life in the city. My family gave her the opportunity and she took care of me and some of the house work. I know she would have loved to live my life and have all the things I got just by being born in the family that I was born into. She was incredibly intelligent and talented. With no access to an education system, she kept reading and tried to learn as much as posible, and all her knowledge she gave it to me. I sadly do not remember much about her, but the little I do gives me a smile. Thanks to her, today I strive to learn more and more from all the fields as possible, because knowing knew things will never hurt you, and it will certainly enrich your life.
My approach towards learning is extremely hands on. I love reading but I enjoy to do it in a casual way. This constrats deeply with the scens I have encountered this last couple of days, while I was scouting for a place to shoot. All these centers of knowledge that i visited, whether a University, a school or a library, lacked. The fun that I find so importnat in the learning process. This places are mostly sober decorated, bland - even tasteless at times -, and esterile. No wonder people have such a bad relationship with studying!
My image is the perfect example of these dull enviroments.
